8/31/20: Lootboxes and the Regulatory Wilderness
The face of gambling is changing. As Millenials (the youngest of which are 23 today) and Gen Z continue to age, the way they engage with gambling and exhibit problematic gambling behaviors is changing as well. Lootboxes in commercial video games are an exploding avenue for these generations and are a phenomenon that all advocates need to understand and be fluent in. Join Chris Hansford, the Political Engagement Director of Consumers for Digital Fairness in a 101-style discussion on lootboxes, what they are, and allow everyone to understand these concerning trends.
Participants will develop a comprehensive understanding of what a loot box is, how it works, and the various ways it can exist in modern video games targeted to children.
